Our 3rd best hitter in the 2015 Valley League season, Charles Town’s Christian Khawam, has already had a rather illustrious career in junior college, so his hitting in the Valley should have come as no surprise.
Christian hit a whopping 367/448/495 in 109 at-bats for the Cannons, along with 6 doubles, a triple, 2 home runs, and a super 12/9 BB/K ratio. He was 3rd in the league in batting average, 2nd in on-base percentage, and 7th in slugging percentage. He had 4 hits in a game an incredible 4 times. (28% of his games played for Charles Town ended with Christian tallying 4 hits!) He left the Cannons right after the league all-star game, unfortunately, or he may have added a few more to that total.
Christian had two amazing seasons at the College of Central Florida. In 2014, as a freshman, Christian hit 392/433/651 in 209 at-bats, along with 57 runs, 53 RBIs, 22 doubles, a triple, 10 home runs, and a 15/18 BB/K ratio. After Central Florida finished 3rd in the state, Christian was named FCSAA (Florida College System Activities Association) all-tournament, and 1st team All-State. He was also named to the 1st team All-Conference, and topped it all off with the Central Florida male athlete of the year (and was , almost obviously, the baseball team’s MVP). He paid attention in the classroom, too: the business marketing major made the Dean’s List.
In his sophomore year, Khawam hit 366/438/559 in 186 at-bats, with 37 runs, 34 RBIs, 19 doubles, a triple, 5 home runs, and a super 24/17 BB/K ratio. He was named Mid-Florida 1st team All-Conference, and made the Dean’s List for a second straight year.
That, ladies and gentlemen, is an amazing junior college career. Christian has signed with Florida International for his junior year.
