Hitter of the Day

Yamil Pagan Alabama State 2016 2Front Royal snapped their 5-game losing streak in a big way last night, thanks in part to Alabama State’s Yamil Pagan, who went 4-6, with 2 runs, 2 RBIs, and 3 doubles. Yamil is now 5-13 in the young VBL season, with a slash line of 385/467/692. He also had a very strong sophomore season for the Hornets, finishing at 335/408/507, with 20 stolen bases, in 207 at-bats.

Our pitcher of the day once again comes from Strasburg. This time, it’s Peyton Plumlee, a signee of Mississippi State!Peyton Plumlee NW MS Comm College Peyton threw 6 shutout innings against Charlottesville, allowing 2 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 3 to earn the win and a game score of 70. Peyton has won all four games he’s appeared in this summer so far: he’s 4-0, 2.50 in 18 innings, with 16 K’s. If you’re curious, 7 wins will get Peyton into the league record book (since 2004)( tied for 10th), and 9 is the record. Peyton pitched for Northwest MS CC in 2016, and went 6-2, 4.58, with 53 K’s in 55 innings.
