Hitter of the Day

Our HOD is Waynesboro’s Tanner Poole, from Mississippi State! Tanner went a perfect 5-5, with 2 runs, 2 RBIs, a home run, and a walk. He was directly involved with three of the General’s four runs, and was on base 6 times. Whoa. In the Valley so far, Tanner is 15-43, with a slash line of 349/451/512. A transfer from Itawamba Community College, Tanner did not appear in a game for Mississippi State in ’16.

Pitcher of the Day

Our POD is yet another player from Alabama State, Brandon Caples, from Purcellville! Brandon threw 8 excellent innings against the hottest team in the Valley, Strasburg. Brandon allowed 6 hits, 1 unearned run, 1 walk, and struck out 4 to earn the win and a game score of 71. In 2 starts this summer, Brandon is 1-1, 1.68 in 16 innings. For the Hornets of Alabama State, Brandon went 3-1, 3.76 in 40 2/3 innings. This is the third day in a row a Hornet was named a player of the day in the Valley League!
