Daily Update, Tuesday June 21

The Turks are definitely helped by the fact that Veterans Memorial Park is mostly astroturf. Despite a storm just before game time, the Cannons-Turks game was still able to be played.

All of the other games on the schedule were postponed.

Eriq White Alabama State 2016Our hitter of the day is Purcellville’s Eriq White, from Alabama State! Eriq went 2-3, with 3 runs, 2 RBIs, a walk, a stolen base, and 2 home runs. He’s now 6-30 this summer, for a slash line of 200/314/400. He had a super season for the Hornets of Alabama State, where he hit 346/441/461 in 191 at-bats.

Pitcher of the Day

Our pitcher of the day is Purcellville’s Matt Kaster, from Wilkes University! Matt, a native of Traben-Trabach, Matt Kaster Wilkes 2016Germany, threw a shutout inning in relief last night, allowing one hit and striking out 1. He hasn’t given up a run yet this summer in 3 IP. He struck out 43 batters in 34 innings at Wilkes this spring, while going 3-3, 1.59, with 3 saves.
