Hitter of the Day

Brian Fortier Davidson 2016Many solid performances, but only one hitter had more than one extra-base hit- and that would be Charlottesville’s Brian Fortier, from Davidson! Brian went 2-3, with a run, 2 RBIs, double, and home run. Brian is now hitting 242/276/385 in 91 at-bats this summer.

Pitcher of the Day

Just an incredible performance by Front Royal’s Blake Whitney, from USC Upstate. Blake threw 7 shutout innings, Blake Whitney USC Upstateallowed 2 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 13. 13! He didn’t earn the win because his offense couldn’t score either, but his game score is an excellent 85. This is the 2nd POD award for Blake; he also won on June 2nd. Overall this summer, he’s now 2-1, 2.94 in 6 starts, with 43 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings.
