Four out of the five games were played last night- with some rain delays sprinkled in.

Front Royal 10, Strasburg 2 (Rare blowout loss for the Express)
Charlottesville 10, Staunton 2 (Tom Sox pull to 2 games behind the Braves for the last playoff spot in South)
New Market 8, Woodstock 7 (Rebs score twice in bottom of the 9th- another walk-off walk)
Harrisonburg-Waynesboro postponed (By the way, with one more Turk win or Tom Sox loss, the Turks clinch a playoff spot already)

Hitter of the Day

Chase DeMars Harford CC 2016Our hitter of the day is New Market’s Chase DeMars, from Harford Community College! Chase, a USC Columbia signee, went 2-5, with 2 runs, 4 RBIs, and 2 home runs. He’s now hitting 308/393/449 in 107 a-bats this summer, along with 6 doubles and 3 home runs. For Harford this spring, Chase hit 358/471/679 in 218 at-bats. He was second on his team in doubles (22) and walks (43). He only struck out 20 times.

Our POD is Charlottesville’s Matthew Sullivan, from Lenoir-Rhyne! Matthew threw 6 innings against Staunton, Matt Sullivan Lenoir Rhyne 2016allowing 5 hits, 1 unearned run, 1 walk, and struck out 8. He earned the win and a game score of 67. After 5 starts this summer, Matthew is 2-1, 3.66, with 25 hits, 7 walks, and 30 strikeouts in 27 innings pitched. He led Lenoir-Rhyne in ERA this spring, finishing 3-4, 4.21, with 49 K’s in 51 1/3 innings.
