We start off our top 15 list with Harrisonburg’s Greg Popatak, who attends George Mason!
Greg was a mainstay in the Turk lineup, hitting 264/344/507 in 41 games and 140 at-bats, along with 31 runs scored, 27 RBIs, 3 doubles, 2 triples, and 9 home runs (and a pretty awesome mustache). He finished with 17 walks, 36 strikeouts, and 2 stolen bases. In the playoffs, he went 2-5 in 2 games, and he finished 2nd in the league in home runs. His best game was on June 20 against New Market, when he went 3-4, with 3 runs, an RBI, triple, and home run.
Greg is a rising sophomore at George Mason. He hit a strikingly similar (except for the slugging) 264/365/375 in 144 at-bats as a freshman, with 23 runs, 15 RBIs, 6 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs, and a 18/53 BB/K ratio.
