In our next category of ATVL’s 2004-2016 league record book, we have slugging percentage! And finally, we have not only an entry from 2016, but our brand new leader is from the summer just concluded!
1 | Zach Sterry | Waynesboro | 2016 | 0.745 |
2 | Tyler Townsend | Winchester | 2008 | 0.739 |
3 | Jon Love | Front Royal | 2004 | 0.731 |
4 | Mac Williamson | Harrisonburg | 2011 | 0.706 |
Joseph Odom | Winchester | 2012 | 0.706 | |
6 | Jimmy Yezzo | Winchester | 2012 | 0.679 |
7 | Ryan Sullivan | Covington | 2012 | 0.676 |
8 | Steve McQuail | Front Royal | 2009 | 0.669 |
9 | Collin Cowgill | Covington | 2005 | 0.659 |
10 | Bradley Picha | Winchester | 2012 | 0.657 |
Julian Ridings | Waynesboro | 2012 | 0.657 |
Now we can put Zach Sterry’s season in a bit of context, because he annihilated the field in 2016- the next closest SLG was Nick Ward’s, at .587. That’s almost 150 points! Well, he shot up to the top of this list, too, with his monster 2016 season.
Under Zach, we have two major leaguers (Mac Williamson, Collin Cowgill), one current minor leaguer (Joseph Odom (reached Double-A in ’16), and three players formerly in affiliated ball (Tyler Townsend, Jimmy Yezzo, Julian Ridings).
Way to go Zach! A very well deserved honor. I am glad I got to meet this young man this summer.
And to the owner of this blog:
Thank you for all your posts. It has been very interesting reading and learning about this league. I am glad my son got this experience and was able to play with these young men. Definitely met several friends for life!
