We’ve finished up the league record book, so let’s turn our attention to the minor league record book- the next level up!
We’ll start with career runs scored:
|1||Clint Robinson||Harrisonburg ’05-06||534|
|2||Joey Butler||New Market ’06||523|
|3||Tony Thomas||Harrisonburg ’05||485|
|4||Eric Campbell||Luray ’06||428|
|5||Ben Guez||Covington ’06||423|
|6||Blake Tekotte||Woodstock ’06||414|
|7||Ryan Schimpf||Luray ’08||403|
|8||Collin Cowgill||Covington ’05||391|
|9||Tyler Bortnick||Front Royal ’06||381|
|10||Sherman Johnson||Covington ’10||369|
These lists are so much fun. Clint Robinson is in 1st place, as he is for many, many of the career hitting marks. Clint, Joey Butler, Eric Campbell, Blake Tekotte, Ryan Schimpf, and Collin Cowgill have all played in the majors.
Robinson, Butler, Campbell, Schimpf, Cowgill, Bortnick, and Johnson are all still active. Campbell and Bortnick are free agents, and Tekotte and Thomas played for Indy teams in 2016.
Clint has pretty much established himself as a major league hitter, so Joey Butler has a very strong chance to pass him in 2017. It’s also interesting that 6 of the guys on the list played in the league in 2006. The golden age of the VBL?
