Hitter(s) of the Day
This doesn’t happen too often, but every once in a while two hitters have incredible nights, and I find it impossible to choose between them. So, since this is my space, after all, and I can choose what I do, I have decided to name two hitters of the night from Friday.
- Winchester’s RJ Ball, from Daytona State, had our first amazing game. He went 3-4, with 3 runs, 4 RBIs, a double, and two home runs. If you’re counting, and you should be, that’s three extra base hits for the young man from Haines City, Florida. He’s now hitting 257/422/543 in 35 at-bats for the Royals. RJ is transferring to Keiser University for the upcoming year.
- Max Wood, from Staunton and Central Florida, is our second winner. It’s hard to ignore 6 times on base, which is exactly what Max did last night against Covington. Max went 3-3, with 3 runs, 2 RBIs, 3 walks, a triple, and a home run. Wow! Max is now hitting 348/441/543 in 46 at-bats this summer.

Pitcher of the Day
While the hitter of the day was a close one, the pitcher of the day was a little more cut-
and-dried. Our POD is New Market’s Joe Bobiak, from Cumberland County! Joe threw 8 innings against Woodstock, allowing 8 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 walk, and struck out 4. He earned the win and a game score of 61. He threw 110 pitches. On the season so far, he’s 2-1, 3.30, with 25 K’s in 30 innings pitched. Joe is transferring to Lincoln Memorial this fall.

Saturday’s Games
Purcellville at Woodstock
Covington at Charlottesville
Waynesboro at Front Royal
Harrisonburg at Staunton
Strasburg at New Market
John – great VBL coverage, every day, as usual. Late note about Joe Bobiak, your Pitcher of the Day for June 30. That was Joe’s final outing for the New Market Rebels, having reached the limit set by his college.coach. Joe’s 2 wins were key to the Rebels’ first-half success. Joe clearly went out in style.
