The 14th best hitter in the 217 Valley League season is Dillon Reed, from Winchester and Santa Fe College!
Dillon was a key performer for the Royals all season, as he put up this stat line in both the regular season and the playoffs:
| VBL | G | AB | R | H | 2B | 3B | HR | RBI | BB | K | SB | CS | Avg | OBP | SLG |
| 2017 | 40 | 167 | 30 | 58 | 9 | 1 | 0 | 23 | 18 | 23 | 18 | 4 | 0.347 | 0.414 | 0.413 |
| Play | 6 | 28 | 8 | 10 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 7 | 3 | 4 | 4 | 0 | 0.357 | 0.419 | 0.500 |
The 6-foot-3, 205 pound Flagler signee finished 9th in the league in batting average, tied for 9th in total bases, tied for 10th in doubles, 3rd in hits, and tied for 9th in runs scored. He obviously helped bring the Royals to within an inning of playing in the finals, as his stats were a little better in the playoffs than in the regular season. (It was interesting watching the dugout dynamics during a game in Strasburg. Dillon talked a blue streak- a blue streak about hitting. What the pitcher was throwing, how hard, what to watch for… he definitely seemed like a leader of the Royals.)
Dillon didn’t play much in his first season at Santa Fe, but exploded in his second:
| S.Fe | G | AB | R | H | 2B | 3B | HR | RBI | BB | K | SB | CS | Avg | OBP | SLG |
| 2016 | 25 | 42 | 5 | 8 | 3 | 1 | 1 | 4 | 1 | 15 | 1 | 2 | 0.190 | 0.209 | 0.381 |
| 2017 | 50 | 181 | 50 | 64 | 9 | 2 | 4 | 36 | 26 | 35 | 19 | 2 | 0.354 | 0.428 | 0.492 |
Watch for the Saint Johns, Florida native to have a super year at Flagler this coming spring! Congrats, Dillon!
