2017 Triple-A Pitcher of the Year

Our last minor league player of the year goes to the Triple-A pitcher of the year, chosen from the Pacific Coast and International Leagues!

The past:

2016- Chad Kuhl (New Market 2012)
2015- Scott Copeland (Staunton 2007)
2014- Adam Liberatore (Waynesboro 2007-08)

Ryan Yarbrough Durham 2017

And the 2017 Triple-A Pitcher of the Year is former Luray Wrangler (2012) Ryan Yarbrough! Ryan pitched for Triple-A Durham in the International League last season, and went 13-6, 3.43 in 26 starts and 157 1/3 innings, along with a 1.16 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9, and 9.1 K/9. I would be shocked if he does not join the three pitchers listed above as a major leaguer someday soon. He was named pitcher of the week by milb.com twice, and then an organizational all-star after the season. He was also ATVL’s 2016 Double-A and 2014 Short Season A Pitcher of the Year. This is #3!

Others to consider:

  • Sam Howard (Staunton 12), for Albuquerque: 4-4, 3.89, 1.42 WHIP, 3.7 BB/9, 7.1 K/9 in 81 innings
  • Alex Wimmers (Luray 08), for Rochester: 7-3, 3.23, 0.93 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9, 9.1 K/9 in 47 1/3 innings
  • Drew Rucinski (Luray 08-10), also for Rochester: 2-6, 2.57, 1.02 WHIP, 1.4 BB/9, 8.1 K/9 in 63 innings
  • Austin Adams (Staunton 11), for Syracuse: 6-2, 2.14, 1.37 WHIP, 5.6 BB/9, 13.9 K/9 in 59 innings
  • Emilio Pagan (Harrisonburg 10), for Tacoma: 2-1, 2.56, 0.85 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9, 10.2 K/9 in 31 2/3 innings
  • Eric Stout (Waynesboro 12), for Omaha: 5-2, 2.99, 1.26 WHIP, 3.8 BB/9, 7.3 K/9 in 69 1/3 innings
