Today we will check in with three pitchers- all big guys, and all with the ability to miss bats.

It’s time to check in with Jonathan Bowlan (New Market 2016), Parker Dyson (Purcellville 2017), and Blake Whitney (Front Royal 2016)!

  • Jonathan Bowlan, the 6-foot-6 junior righthander at Memphis, has put up an amazing BB/K ratio this year for the Tigers. He’s gone 2-9, 3.71, with a 1.306 WHIP, 1.9 BB/9, and 11.0 K/9 in 85 innings pitched. That equals only 18 walks to 104 strikeouts! Jonathan set a school and AAC record for strikeouts in a game when he K’d 18 batters on April 28th against South Florida- the most K’s in one game by one pitcher in Division I this season.
  • Parker Dyson, a 6-foot-5 junior lefty from West Liberty, put up solid stats as well. He went 5-4, 3.00, with a 1.273 WHIP, 4.2 BB/9, and 11.3 K/9 in 66 innings pitched. He struck out 12 batters in back-to-back starts- April 28th at Fairmont State, and May 5th against Wheeling Jesuit.
  • Last but definitely not least, we have 6-foot-3 senior righthander Blake Whitney from USC Upstate. Blake went 5-3, 2.81 in 73 2/3 innings, with a 1.113 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9, and 10.0 K/9. He struck out 12 in 8 innings on March 23rd against Dayton.

I think that all three of these pitchers have a chance to be drafted this year… at least, based on the numbers. Well done, guys!
