Hitter of the Day
Sergio Lopez had his fingerprints all over the Cannons’ win last night. He hit a 3-run home run in the 3rd inning, and an RBI triple in the 5th. He went 2-5, with 3 runs and those 4 RBIs in Purcellville’s 9-3 win over a very strong Front Royal Cardinals team. This summer, Sergio is hitting 238/393/524 so far, after a spring for St. Thomas in which he hit 351/453/675 with 15 home runs in 228 at-bats.

For the third time this year, the POD is Covington’s Kaven Brown, from Eastern Kentucky! Over 111 pitches last night (!!!), Kaven threw 7 2/3 innings while allowing 8 hits, 1 unearned run, and 1 walk along with 9 strikeouts. He earned the win and a game score of 71. This summer, he’s a ridiculous 3-0, 0.76, with 28 strikeouts in 23 2/3 innings. He’s given up only 2 earned runs in 4 starts.
