On this day in Valley League history, July 2nd, 2013, lefthander Dalton Potts, from Tennessee-Martin and the Front Royal Cardinals, fired 7 shutout innings against the Harrisonburg Turks while allowing only 5 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 10.
Dalton had an outstanding year in the Valley in ’13, going 2-5, 3.02 in 47 2/3 innings, with 42 hits, 43 strikeouts, and only 16 walks. He was named to the VBL All-Star squad and threw a shutout 2/3 of an inning. He also threw a 9-inning shutout on June 5th against Charles Town. Dalton got a chance at the highest level of summer ball, too, as he pitched in the Cape Cod League in both 2013 and 2014.
