Leftwich Going to AFL

Luke Leftwich Reading 2018Each year in the fall, major league teams send a cadre of prospects to play another month or so in the Arizona Fall League. Playing in the league is considered an honor, even though the minor league season is long and a break might be needed.

Only one former Valley Leaguer is on the early rosters for the AFL- Luke Leftwich (Aldie 2013), slated to play for Scottsdale. (Perhaps more will end up going- the rosters change a ton throughout the short season.)

Luke was a 2015 7th round draft pick of the Phillies, and reached Double-A Reading this season. Luke finished his season 3-4, 3.73, with 3 saves, a 1.277 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9, and 10.3 K/9 in 62 2/3 innings, covering 44 games, all but one in relief.

Maybe he can open some eyes this fall!
