Jordyn Eglite Cov headshot 2018Our 13th best starter, Justin Showalter, could have lived at home while he played for the Staunton Braves during the summer, but our 12th best, Covington’s Jordyn Eglite, travelled perhaps farther than anyone to play in the Valley.

A native of Martinez, California, Eglite is a current sophomore at San Francisco State, but still made the trek across the country to pitch for the Covington Lumberjacks. He surely didn’t allow the lack of home cooking to deter him, as he was one of the best on the mound:

Cov ERA W L G GS IP H R ER BB K BAVG WIP BB/9 K/9
2018 3.78 3 1 16 3 38.0 33 18 16 8 42 0.231 1.079 1.9 9.9
Play 2.34 1 0 2 1 7.7 10 3 2 2 6 0.323 1.558 2.3 7.0

For the pitchers surveyed for this list, Jordyn finished 4th in innings pitched, tied for 2nd in strikeouts, 7th in WHIP, 4th in BB/9, and 9th in K/9. (His 8/42 BB/K numbers are excellent!) His best start was on July 11th, against Front Royal, when he threw 5 shutout innings while allowing 3 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 4.

Here is what Jordyn did for SFS in 2018:

SFS ERA W L G GS IP H R ER BB K WHIP BB/9 K/9
2018 3.20 1 1 18 0 19.7 19 12 7 11 10 1.523 5.0 4.6

Jordyn went from an 11/10 BB/K ratio in college to 8/42 over the summer; watch for a dramatic improvement in his 2019 college season!
