The 14th best reliever in the 2018 Valley League season is the 6-foot righthander from the University of Florida, Kirby McMullen!
Kirby, a junior for the Gators, came to Charlottesville with his younger brother Hunter to help form an impressive duo. In particular, Kirby showed excellent control as he put up the following numbers:
Yep, this young man did not walk a single batter in 20 2/3 innings this summer for the Tom Sox. His BB/9 was tied for 1st among all pitchers on this list, and he finished 10th in both ERA and WHIP. He also hit for the Tom Sox, and slashed an impressive 317/364/366 in 41 regular season at-bats.
In the summer of 2017, he played for the Olean Oilers in the New York Collegiate League, where he went 2-1, 4.42, with 4 walks and 20 strikeouts in 18 1/3 innings, while also hitting 391/488/672 in 64 at-bats.
