Three former Valley Leaguers have been named to Collegiate Baseball’s preseason All-American lists: Parker Phillips (Waynesboro 2017), Le Bassett (Front Royal 2018), and Bryan Arias (Harrisonburg 2016-17)!
- Phillips, from Austin Peay, was named to the first team at outfielder. The 6-foot-5, 240 pound junior hit 315/410/670 in 197 college at-bats last year, with 47 runs, 62 RBIs, 13 doubles, and 19 home runs. For the Generals in 2017, he hit 269/396/395 in 119 at-bats, with 6 doubles, 3 home runs, and 30 RBIs.
- Bassett, from Mercer, is a third-teamer at second base. For Mercer in his freshman year in 2018, he hit 282/377/678 in 149 at-bats, with 33 runs, 60 RBIs, 4 doubles, 2 triples, and 17 home runs. He batted 9 times for Front Royal in 2018.
- Arias, from Texas San-Antonio, is also listed at third team 2nd base. The senior hit 335/416/543 in college in 2018, with 49 runs, 35 RBIs, 16 doubles, 3 triples, and 8 home runs in 221 at-bats. For the Turks in 2016, Bryan hit 266/387/381 in 139 at-bats. The next summer, he hit 236/299/343 in 140 at-bats. He really broke out in the California Collegiate League in 2018, though, when he hit 362/429/621 in 174 at-bats for the Healdsburg Prune Packers. (The Prune Packers.)
Congratulations to all three!
