Two more former Valley Leaguers are off to quick starts in their 2019 college seasons- Rider’s Riley Mihalik (Covington 2016-17) and Newberry’s Danton Hyman (Woodstock 2016-17).
Mihalik, named MAAC Pre-Season All-League at designated hitter by Collegiate Baseball, hit a ridiculous 455/538/1.273 in the Bronc’s first three games, with 4 runs, 8 RBIs, and 3 home runs. The lefty-swinging senior from Churchville, Pennsylvania, has scored 4 of his team’s 14 runs, driven in 8 of 13, and hit all three of his team’s home runs.
Hyman, also a left-swinging senior, is hitting a robust 426/491/511 through Newberry’s first 12 games, with 10 runs, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 8 RBIs, a 6/4 BB/K ratio, and 5 stolen bases. He leads the Wolves in runs, hits, total bases, and is tied for the lead in stolen bases. Danton was the Valley League’s 10th best hitter in 2016, and 8th best in 2017.
Hopefully both of these young men will continue their careers after this season!
