Hunter Wolfe (Strasburg 2017) seems to have been all over the place playing college baseball, but I imagine Dayton is pretty happy to have him now.
Originally at Purdue in 2017, Wolfe moved to Wabash Valley the next season, and is now enrolled at Dayton, where Perfect Game named him a JUCO “player to watch.”
Well, on Saturday, Hunter threw a complete game for the Flyers against Seton Hall, allowing only 4 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk, and striking out 11. (That’s a game score of 85, by the way.)
So now, after two starts, Hunter is 1-1, 3.60, with 11 hits, 5 walks, and 15 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched. (For Strasburg in 2017, Hunter struck out 24 batters in 23 innings pitched, and last summer, for the Terre Haute Rex in the Prospect League, he struck out 15 in 12 1/3 innings.)
Well done, Hunter!
