Spotlight on Todys, Rivers, and Esquerra

Three former Valley Leaguers hit two home runs in one college game yesterday, and many, many other D-I players had good games as well. Let’s take a look:

  • Ohio State’s Brent Todys (New Market 2018) went 4-6 yesterday, with 2 runs, 2 home runs, and 4 RBIs. When I went to the OSU website to check stats, the team’s numbers had not been updated since April 15th… but up to that point, Brent was hitting 255/357/443 in 106 at-bats, with 15 runs, 6 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home runs, 19 RBIs, and a solid 15/15 BB/K ratio.
  • Coastal Carolina’s Kieton Rivers (Strasburg 2018) also hit 2 home runs along with driving in 3 runs. He’s now hitting a robust 350/455/629, with 38 runs, 10 doubles, 3 triples, 8 home runs, 46 RBIs, and a 23/47 BB/K ratio in 143 at-bats. He’s leading the team in batting average and RBIs.
  • Loyola Marymount’s Trevin Esquerra (Purcellville 2017) has continued his power hitting, going 3-4, with 2 runs, 2 home runs, and 4 RBIs yesterday. He is hitting an impressive 319/371/688 in 160 at-bats, with 28 runs, 15 doubles, 1 triple, 14 home runs, 47 RBIs, and a 11/45 BB/K ratio. He leads his squad in slugging percentage (by almost 300 points), hits, doubles, home runs, and RBIs.
