The College Baseball Foundation (CBF) has released the long list for the John Olerud Award, given to the best two-way player in Division-I baseball.
One former Valley Leaguer has made the initial list of 25 players: Brandon Wilkes, the former Staunton Brave (2018) and current senior at Bethune-Cookman. Brandon is both a right-handed reliever and infielder for the Wildcats.
The CBF will announce the winner later in the summer.
(And by the way, the 2018 winner is none other than former Waynesboro General (2015) Brooks Wilson, from Stetson, who went on to be drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 7th round in 2018.)
(Another by the way: As for those who might be overlooked, a good candidate might be Rob Griswold (Front Royal 2018), who is a two-way player for Long Island.)
