Spotlight on Smartt, Webb, and Other Top Performers

Perusing those D-I boxscores from Friday, ATVL stumbled across a few former VBLers who performed well. The two we will focus on are Troy’s Chase Smartt (Harrisonburg 2017) and Georgia Tech’s Jackson Webb (Waynesboro 2018). Other good performances are listed at the bottom.

  • Yesterday, Smartt went 4-5, with 2 runs, 2 doubles, a home run, and 3 RBIs for Troy. For the season so far, he’s slashing 321/394/503 in 159 at-bats, with 28 runs, 14 doubles, 5 home runs, 33 RBIs, and a sterling 21/19 BB/K ratio. He leads Troy in doubles.
  • Webb, a transfer from Central Florida, went 4-6 for Tech yesterday, with 3 runs, a home run, and 3 RBIs. He’s slashing (before Friday’s game) 328/418/418 in 67 at-bats, with 13 runs, 2 doubles, 2 triples, 9 RBIs, a 10/18 BB/K ratio, and 7 stolen bases in 7 attempts.
