I think it’s fair to say that Deacon Medders’s pro career is off to an exciting start.
In only his fifth pro appearance since being drafted in June, Medders combined with three other teammates to throw a no-hitter yesterday for the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Northwest League.
Deacon, a Staunton Brave in 2017, threw the 8th and 9th innings, walking three batters but obviously not allowing a hit.
Medders is 0-1, 2.35, with a 1.17 WHIP and 9 strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings pitched in his pro career so far. For Alabama this spring, he struck out an amazing 51 batters in 31 2/3 innings pitched. No wonder he was drafted!
(By the way, two former Valley Leaguers were on the losing side in this one- Billy Cooke (Charlottesville 2015) and DeAires Moses (Purcellville 2016).)
