It’s not often that this is the case, but it seems our 10th best reliever in the 2019 Valley League season, Front Royal’s Arrison Perez, has not thrown a pitch in college just yet, even though he’s played two full seasons at Barry already.

A utility player who can fill any position on the field, Perez took over a key role in the Cardinal bullpen this summer.

2019 2.13 0 1 12 2 12.7 11 3 3 15 1.102 2.1 10.6

Among pitchers considered for this list, Perez finished sixth in the league in WHIP, and third in BB/9. He also batted 105 times, slashing .210/.303/.267.

The current junior hit hit .235/.311/.409 in 132 at-bats at Barry as a freshman, and then .277/.373/.330 in 94 at-bats as a sophomore.

I look forward to seeing if Perez will get some time on the mound this spring, perhaps pitching with former Woodstock River Bandit Willy Escala behind him at shortstop?
