Today we have ATVL’s Double-A Pitcher of the Year selection- from the Southern, Eastern, and Texas Leagues!

As usual, history:

2018- Reed Garrett (New Market 2013)
2017- Austin Gomber (Luray 2012)
2016- Ryan Yarbrough (Luray 2012)
2015- Chad Kuhl (New Market 2012)
2014- Drew Rucinski (Luray 2008-10)
2013- Stephen Kohlscheen (Harrisonburg 2010)
2012- Tyler Thornburg (Winchester 2008)
2011- Mike Ballard (Staunton 2004)
2010- Elih Villanueva (Luray 2007)

Interestingly, seven of the nine on the history list pitched in the major leagues.

The 2019 Double-A Pitcher of teh Year is Tyler Zombro (Staunton 2014), who pitched in Montgomery of the Southern League in 2019. He went 2-0, 1.87, with a 0.88 WHIP, 1.1 BB/9 and 8.3 K/9 in 57 2/3 innings. He started three games and saved 11. His 7/53 BB/K ratio wasn’t quite the best of all pitchers considered for this list (Randy Dobnak, below), but it was incredibly good.
