Hitter of the Day
On June 4, 2019, Charlottesville’s Dan Harwood went 4-4 against Winchester, with a run, walk, double, home run, and five RBIs. Harwood, a rising senior from Wooster, went on to hit .263/.385/.406 in 133 at-bats that summer, with eight doubles, a triple, three home runs, 24 RBIs, and a solid 19/25 BB/K ratio. He got to play a whole seven games this spring before everything was shut down, but he hit a cool 15-28 in those contests.
Pitcher of the Day
On June 4, 2018, Front Royal’s Ramon Miranda took the hill against Woodstock, and spun five shutout innings while allowing three hits, no walks, and striking out 10. That summer, Miranda went 4-1, 2.27 in five starts and 27 2/3 innings pitched, with a 0.903 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9, and 11.0 K/9. He was ATVL’s third best starter in the league. Miranda started two games on the mound this spring for Arizona Christian, but got more time at the plate: in 23 games and 85 at-bats, he hit .341/.411/.424, with five doubles and a triple.
