Former Staunton player Nate Pearson (2016) made his major league debut Wednesday night, blowing through five innings for the Buffalo Blue Jays against the Washington Nationals.
By ATVL’s count the 229th Valley League alum to play in the majors, Pearson finished his night with five shutout innings, allowing only two hits and two walks while striking out five. He is also the first player from the 2016 VBL season to make the bigs, and second from the 2017 draft (the first was Nick Margevicius (who also played in Staunton, but the year before Pearson, in 2015).
Congratulations, Nate!
