Here is our last matchup for the week!
- Daniel Thorpe came to Aldie in 2013 after his junior year at Saint Joseph’s. He was the 4th best starter in the league that summer, going 3-2, 1.07, with a 0.905 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9, and 6.6 K/9 in 42 innings. he finished his career at Saint Joseph’s in 2014, ending with career college numbers of 19-11, 3.63, with a 1.34 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9, and 6.8 K/9 in 260 innings. He wasn’t drafted, but he played for two seasons for the Alpine Cowboys of the independent Pecos League. In 19 starts and 119 1/3 indy innings, Thorpe went 7-6, 4.01, with a 1.30 WHIP.
- Austin Koehn was one of the stable of excellent Turk starters in 2019. He had just completed his freshman year at UNC Greensboro, in which he had struck out 67 batters in 77 innings. For Harrisonburg, he was the 3rd best starter in the league, going 3-1, 1.80, with a 1.040 WHIP, 3,2 BB/9, and 8.6 K/9 in 25 innings. In the abbreviated NCAA season in 2020, Koehn went 1-0, 1.04, with 19 K’s in 17 1/3 innings. If he has another excellent season in 2021, I envision Koehn hearing his name on draft day (one of the draft days, anyway).
