Our third matchup of the week is ready to roll!

  • Graham Tebbitt walloped Jeff Schank in the first round, 91.1% to 8.9% with 45 total votes cast. His writeup: “Playing for the now-defunct Aldie Senators in 2013, Graham Tebbit walked just six batters in 49 2/3 innings, finishing his summer at 1-3, 1.81, with a 0.885 WHIP, 1.1 BB/9, and 8.0 K/9. Based on those numbers, he was named the 5th best starter in the league by ATVL. On his way to Hofstra, Tebbit pitched there in both 2013 and 2014, going 1-4, 4.48 in 25 games and 54 2/3 college innings. In 2015, he pitched one game for the independent Quebec Capitales in the Can-Am League, but has not pitched in pro ball besides that one game (that I can find).”
  • Aaron Luchterhand came to the Harrisonburg Turks from Arkansas Tech in 2011. He was pretty clearly the best starter in the league that summer, as he went 4-1, 1.60, with a 0.822 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9, 5.9 K/9 and .168 batting average against in a whopping 73 innings. Of the top pitchers that summer, Luchterhand led the list in ERA, innings, batting average against, and WHIP. He returned to school in 2012, and went 5-6, 2.54, with 77 K’s in 95 2/3 innings. He was not drafted, and did not pitch in pro ball.
