After the 40+ players on the triples list, this one seems downright small, even though there are almost 30 entries.

So here we go- the most home runs hit in one VBL season- regular season and playoffs combined- since the 1994 season.

Notes

  • Joseph Odom won his battle with teammate Jimmy Yezzo in 2012 to top this list, but his total is not the best of all time. Chaz Weaver notes that Mike Sabo hit 26 home runs for Staunton in 1987 (that would have been before wooden bats were standard in the league… which…. makes a difference).
  • Winchester and New Market have five entries on the list, Covington has four, Front Royal, Staunton, and Strasburg have three, Waynesboro and Harrisonburg have two, and Woodstock and Luray have one each. Purcellville and Charlottesville do not have anyone yet (but watch for Jose Aquino in 2021).
  • Strasburg’s Brandon Quaranta is on this list twice. I believe that he is the only hitter to appear on the same record book list twice on the hitter’s side.
  • Eight of these guys were MVPs- Love,Sterry, Nagle, Hayes, Terni, Townsend, Michaels, and Eyster.
  • Three guys played in the major leagues- Odom, Cowgill, and Michaels.
  • Three guys are also still in college- Eyster, Nagle, and Dicharia.
