Two more Valley Leaguers are off to excellent starts to the 2021 college baseball season- Ryan Mitschele (Woodstock 2019) and Sam Crawford (Charlottesville 2019). (And many more, obviously, but I’m only one guy!)

Mitschele, a redshirt junior righthander at Western Carolina, turned in a sparkling performance Sunday against Towson. Even though he didn’t earn the win, he went five complete innings while allowing two hits, one earned run, one walk, and he struck out seven in his squad’s victory.

Crawford, last seen in the Valley shutting down Strasburg to send Charlottesville to the 2019 VBL title, crushed Eastern Kentucky in his 2021 debut for Georgia Tech. The 6-foot-2 lefty sophomore spun six excellent innings, allowing only two hits, one unearned run, zero walks, and struck out two. Tech won the game 7-1.

Congrats to both pitchers!
