Here’s both our last matchup of the week, and last Final Four pairing. Next week will finish things up!

  • McLain Harris defeated Matt Solter 54.9% to 45.1% (213 votes), Patrick Wiseman, 91.9% to 8.1% (74 votes), and Joe Burris, 81.5% to 18.5% (54 votes). His writeup: “According to ATVL, McLain Harris was the 4th best reliever in the 2019 Valley League season. In 14 games and 21 innings for the Generals, Harris went 1-1, 0.85, with three saves, a 1.190 WHIP, 1.3 BB/9, and 13.3 K/9. Among all relievers that season, he finished fourth in ERA, tenth in WHIP, first in BB/9, and third in K/9. His three walks against 31 strikeouts was particularly impressive. As a junior at Young Harris in 2020, Harris went 1-1, 2.93, with 22 strikeouts in 15 1/3 innings while pitching in eight games.”
  • Dalton Oates beat Zach Neff 79.4% to 20.6% (34 votes), and Mario Morales 63.6% to 36.4% (32 votes). His writeup: “Dalton Oates was lights out for Purcellville in 2018. In 12 games and 29 1/3 innings pitched, Oates went 3-0, 0.61, with a 1.058 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9, and 12.0 K/9. He was ATVL’s fourth best reliever that year (evidence showing that ’18 was a reliever-heavy year). Oates pitched for Shippensburg, a Division-II school in Pennsylvania, in both 2018 and 2019, but has left the program, and I was unable to locate where he might be at the moment.”
