Georgia Southern senior Christian Avant has been swinging a hot bat this college season.

A Front Royal Cardinal in 2018, Avant is hitting .333/.419/.532 in 111 at-bats, with 26 runs scored, eight doubles, a triple, four home runs, 23 RBIs, six stolen bases, and nine walks against only ten strikeouts. He’s tied for third on the Eagles in batting average, is fourth in on-base percentage, and third in slugging. He leads the team in runs scored, is third in RBIs, and is second in stolen bases. (Stats are through Monday, April 12.)

Avant played for Front Royal after his freshman year with the Eagles. He went 30-80 in his 20 games in the Valley, along with 19 runs, 26 RBIs, seven doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 12 stolen bases. I sometimes wonder what kind of stats he might have ended with had he stayed for the full 42 games…
