The Gulf South Conference has released its All-Conference teams, and four former Valley Leaguers made the cut! (Stats are through May 10)
- Jonathan Pintaro (Strasburg 2018, Winchester 2019), from Shorter, made the 1st Team at starting pitcher, and was named the Conference’s Pitcher of the Year to boot. He went 10-3, 2.60 in 93 1/3 innings, with a 0.98 WHIP, 33 walks and 141 strikeouts. His batting average against was a tiny .174. (By the way, Shorter’s head coach is none other than Wes Timmons, who was league MVP for Winchester all the way back in 2001.)
- Dylan Menhennett (Front Royal 2019), from West Florida, made the first team in the outfield. Menhennett is hitting .403/.470/.648 in 159 at-bats, with 43 runs scored, 11 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 41 RBIs, an 18/19 BB/K ratio, and eight stolen bases. He was the Valley League’s 14th best hitter in 2019.
- Valdosta State’s David Maberry (New Market 2018, Waynesboro 2019) was named to the second team at designated hitter. Maberry hit .356/.453/.561 in 132 at-bats, with six doubles, seven home runs, 40 RBIs, and 10 hit-by-pitches.
- Lee’s Seth Konkel (Woodstock 2019) made the second team at starting pitcher. He went 5-2, 3.68 in 51 1/3 innings, with 28 walks and 63 strikeouts. He was the 6th best starter in the VBL in 2019.
Congratulations to all four!
