Good afternoon!
Seemingly every website that covers college baseball is releasing Preseason All-American lists right now. From D1Baseball to Baseball America to Collegiate Baseball, they all have their own take on the best players in college baseball.
As usual, I cull the lists looking for Valley League alumni… or I get a heads-up from someone who already knows, like in this case, Matt Carper (thanks, Matt!).
That player is Holden Christian, a left-handed reliever at Arizona, who was named second team All-American by D1Baseball. Christian pitched for Winchester in 2019, back when he was a student at Loyola Marymount. In 2021 (at LMU), Christian went 3-1, 0.97 in 37 innings, with four saves, 15 walks, and a whopping 56 strikeouts. He was named first team All-WCC, and ABCA Second Team All-Region. He clearly has a bright future!
