On April 8, Chavana threw an exceedingly rare complete game shutout, blanking St. Thomas over nine innings while allowing only two hits and four walks while striking out six. He’s now 5-1, 3.48 over 41 1/3 spring innings, with 39 hits, 13 walks, and 40 strikeouts. He leads his team in ERA, wins, appearances, saves, and innings so far. It’s also his second POW award already this spring.
Chavana went 2-2, 4.20 in 25 2/3 innings for Winchester last summer, while walking only five and striking out 18. He also started a game in the playoffs. His best outing was on July 3 against Harrisonburg, when he threw 5 2/3 shutout innings, allowing only three hits and one walk while striking out six to earn the win.
