Let’s get back to the countdown, shall we?
Our #12 hitter in the 2016 Valley League season is Waynesboro’s Kyle Jackson, from Elon!
Kyle hit 274/379/474 for the Southern Division champs, along with 22 runs, 24 RBIs, 10 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs, 7 stolen bases, and a 20/26 BB/K ratio in 40 games and 135 at-bats. He was 2nd on the Generals in doubles, and 3rd in home runs (there are some more Waynesboro players coming on this list, obviously). His best games were June 27th, at Front Royal, and July 24th, at Charlottesville. Against the Cardinals, he went 3-5, with 2 runs, 3 doubles, and 5 RBIs. A month later against the Tom Sox, he went 3-4, with 2 runs, a home run, 3 RBIs, and a walk. Kyle also played in 6 games in the playoffs, and went 6-24, with 6 runs, 3 doubles, 2 home runs, and 5 RBIs.
Kyle’s been a bit of a nomad in his college career so far. In 2014, as a freshman, he attended Coastal Carolina. In 39 games and 94 at-bats, he hit 245/360/362, with 6 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, and a 15/25 BB/K ratio.
He moved to Polk State in 2015, and hit 291/396/477 in 42 games and 151 at-bats. He scored 36 runs, drove in 37, and hit 7 doubles and 7 home runs. His BB/K rate was 17/29, and he added 11 stolen bases.
After that jump in performance, Kyle moved to Elon for his junior year in 2016. His power spiked again, as he hit 273/394/545 in 209 at-bats, along with 49 runs, 43 RBIs, 19 doubles, 1 triple, 12 home runs, and a 37/58 BB/K rate. He stole 9 bases, too.
Congratulations on your excellent summer, Kyle!
