I was recently able to update my player list- one database with all the players who have appeared in a Valley League game since 2004- so I’m able to quickly check all the “lists” when they become available.
Collegiate Baseball recently released its Preseason Division I All-American list, and they list 81 total players on the three teams. One, count ’em, one, player made the list- former Charles Town Cannon Bryson Bowman (2015), from Western Carolina. Bryson was named to the 3rd team as an outfielder.
Bowman hit 281/329/366 in 153 at-bats for the Cannons in ’15, along with 10 doubles, 1 home run, and a 11/23 BB/K ratio.
Then he returned to the Catamounts, and took off. In what was his redshirt junior year, Bryson hit 326/442/661 in 227 at-bats, with 13 doubles, 3 triples, 19 home runs, and an amazing 43/25 BB/K ratio. That’s why he’s on this list!
Congrats, Bryson, and good luck this spring- may you duplicate your ’16 success!
