At the end of last summer’s Valley League season, ATVL named the top 10 starters, based on their statistics, in the entire league.
Well, since we’re at the end of March, I think it’s time to check in on the list- how are they doing in their 2018 college season? (Stats through Tuesday, March 27)
- Zach Peek, Winthrop (Strasburg): 3-2, 4.43, 40 2/3 innings, 32 hits, 6 walks, and 51 strikeouts. (Read that again- 6 walks, 51 K’s!)
- Sean McCracken, Johns Hopkins (Charlottesville): 3-1, 3.33, 29 hits, 8 BB, 20 K’s in 27 IP
- Andy Crum, Shippensburg (Purcellville): 1-1, 2.25, 28 hits, 7 BB, 22 K’s in 28 IP
- Ben Dum, VCU (Strasburg): 1-0, 1.17, 2 saves, 18 hits, 3 walks, 24 K’s in 23 IP- all in relief
- Nick Fuchs, Longwood (Woodstock): Has not pitched. Nick transferred from Gannon to Longwood.
- Mason Studstill, Eastern Florida State (Harrisonburg): 1-4, 5.44, 52 hits, 27 walks, 48 K’s in 41 1/3 innings
- Grant Suponchick, Nebraska-Omaha (Waynesboro): 1-1, 8.79, 18 hits, 9 BB, 5 K’s in 14 1/3 IP. Grant is hitting 362/431/517 in 58 at-bats as well.
- Dylan Hall, Virginia Tech (Strasburg): 1-2, 6.87, 28 hits, 6 walks, 11 K’s in 18 1/3 innings
- Daniel Collins, Montreat (Winchester): 2-2, 3.20, 51 hits, 17 walks, 45 K’s in 50 2/3 innings (no link to the team’s stats on the team’s page?!? Come on, guys!)
- Payton Kinney, Nebraska-Omaha (Waynesboro): 1-1, 3.31, 10 hits, 8 walks, 14 K’s in 16 1/3 innings (threw a no-hitter, though)
