Yesterday, former Woodstock River Bandit Sam Lewis (2011) toed the mound for his third start of the still-very-new minor league season for Double-A Jackson in the Southern League.
In his first two starts, he had allowed 8 hits, 4 walks, and 5 earned runs in 10 total innings, along with 10 strikeouts. Last night, though, against Birmingham, he was lights-out. Over five innings and only 66 pitches, Sam allowed 0 hits, 0 runs, walked 2, and struck out 5. The first reliever after him blew the no-hitter, but the staff had no trouble maintaining the 7-0 lead Sam had left them.
So overall, now, Sam is 2-1, 3.00, with a 0.93 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9, and 9.0 K/9 in 15 innings.
