Sixteen Named ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans

A few weeks ago, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings Sporting Goods released their All-America lists for all levels of college baseball, from Divison I all the way down to Junior College Division III.

In a very pleasant surprise, a total of sixteen former and current Valley Leaguers were found on the various lists.

Of course, Dear Reader, they are to be found below:

NCAA Division I

  1. Andrew Moritz (Harrisonburg 2016), UNC Greensboro- 1st Team OF: 428/492/637, 57 runs, 61 RBIs, 7 doubles, 10 triples, 6 home runs, 28/27 BB/K, 12 stolen bases in 54 games.
  2. Brooks Wilson (Waynesboro 2015), Stetson- 1st Team Utility: 6-0, 2.08, 20 saves, 1.05 WHIP, 3.0 BB/9, 11.0 K/9 in 56 innings pitched. 299/413/455 in 53 games and 187 at-bats, with 16 doubles, 3 home runs, 35/43 BB/K, 9 stolen bases.
  3. Seth Lancaster (Charlottesville 2015), Coastal Carolina- 2nd Team SS: 305/454/646 in 226 at-bats and 62 games, 81 runs, 57 RBIs, 17 doubles, 20 home runs, 63/55 BB/K, 23 stolen bases. 20/20 in 62 games!

NCAA Division II

  1. Trey Jacobs (Staunton 2018), UNC Pembroke- 1st Team 3B: 417/439/700 in 230 at-bats, with 60 runs, 79 RBIs, 28 doubles, 2 triples, 11 home runs, 14/27 BB/K.
  2. JT Hintzen (Woodstock 2016), Florida Southern- 1st Team Relief Pitcher: 14-0, 1.96, 2 saves, 1.2 BB/9, 10.6 K/9, 0.79 WHIP in 96 2/3 innings pitched.
  3. Luke Jackson (Staunton 2018), UNC Pembroke- 2nd Team OF: 397/469/652 in 204 at-bats, with 59 runs, 69 RBIs, 10 doubles, 3 triples, 12 home runs, 21/38 BB/K, 15 stolen bases.

NCAA Division III

  1. Seth Woodard (Winchester 2017), Christopher Newport- 1st Team 3B: 386/511/705 in 176 at-bats, with 57 runs, 65 RBIs, 17 doubles, 13 home runs, 36/31 BB/K, and 4 stolen bases.
  2. Michael Wielansky (Charlottesville 2017), Wooster- 1st Team SS: 401/508/665 in 50 games and 197 at-bats, with 76 runs, 50 RBIs, 20 doubles, 7 triples, 6 home runs, an incredible 40/17 BB/K ratio, and 17 stolen bases. He was named the D-III Player of the Year.
  3. Brady Ballstadt (Front Royal 2018), Piedmont- 3rd Team OF: 397/465/652 in 44 games and 184 at-bats, with 49 runs, 53 RBIs, 16 doubles, 5 triples, 7 home runs, 26/34 BB/K ratio, and 32 stolen bases.

NAIA

  1. Joe Lytle (Harrisonburg 2015, 2017), Oklahoma City- 2nd Team DH: 392/450/604 in 255 at-bats, with 62 runs, 76 RBIs, 27 doubles, 3 triples, 7 home runs, 28/13 BB/K ratio, and 6 stolen bases.
  2. Kyle Fulton (Winchester 2017), Central Methodist- 2nd Team P: 6-0, 0.86, 4 saves, 0.88 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9, 10.5 K/9 in 52 1/3 innings pitched.

NJCAA Division I

  1. Andrew Eyster (New Market 2018), Santa Fe- 2nd Team OF: In 49 games and 204 at-bats, he hit 412/476/745, with 53 runs, 53 RBIs, 17 doubles, 6 triples, 13 home runs, and a 25/35 BB/K ratio.
  2. Oraj Anu (New Market 2018), Wallace- 2nd Team DH: 390/428/665 in 54 games and 200 at-bats, with 54 runs, 60 RBIs, 22 doubles, 11 home runs, a 13/39 BB/K ratio, and 5 stolen bases.

NJCAA Division II

  1. Aaron Palensky (Winchester 2018), Southeast- 1st Team OF: 417/515/850 in 58 games and 187 at-bats, with 72 runs, 77 RBIs, 23 doubles, 2 triples, 18 home runs, 27/25 BB/K ratio, and 24 stolen bases.
  2. Brandon Parker (New Market 2018), Mississippi Gulf Coast- 1st Team OF: 4224/500/932 (!) in 52 games and 177 at-bats, with 50 runs, 81 RBIs, 14 doubles, 2 triples, 24 home runs, and a 21/36 BB/K ratio. Brandon was named the NJCAA D-II Player of the Year.
  3. Simon Landry (Strasburg 2017), Pearl River- 2nd Team INF: 392/447/830 in 49 games and 171 at-bats, with 51 runs, 68 RBIs, 16 doubles, 19 home runs, and a 15/37 BB/K ratio.
