Five games played last night, with some ridiculous scores. A football score in one of them, actually. One of the boxscores was not “completed” last night (Pointstreak has been causing some troubles lately), so I did my best.
Results
- Charlottesville 11, Covington 1 (Sox emphatically grab first place back in the South)
- Winchester 8, Front Royal 7
- Strasburg 21, Woodstock 10 (Whaaaaaaaaat.)
- Waynesboro 4, Harrisonburg 2 (This one’s boxscore isn’t quite completed)
- Purcellville 8, New Market 7
Hitter of the Day
It should come as no surprise that the hitter of the day comes from the game in Strasburg, with 31 runs, 31 hits, 16 walks, 8 doubles, 2 home runs…. Well, it’s Strasburg’s Anthony Pecora, from Wagner, who earns our honor. Anthony went 5-6, with 3 runs, 4 RBIs, a double, and a home runs. He’s hitting 298/366/500 for the summer, and hit 233/315/301 at Wagner this spring.

Pitcher of the Day
We still had a few pitchers perform well on such a hitting night! Our pitcher of the day is Charlottesville’s Hunter Gregory, from Old Dominion, who threw 4 shutout innings against Covington. He allowed 1 hit, 1 walk, and struck out 2 to earn the win. Hunter is now 1-1, 2.00 this summer, with 17 K’s and only 15 baserunners in 18 innings pitched. He went 3-5, 6.67, with 53 K’s in 59 1/3 innings for ODU this spring.
