All five games were played last night, and it looks like the pitchers have reasserted themselves a bit. This has been a hitter-heavy summer, but last night “only” 44 runs were scored in the 5 games on the schedule.

Hitter of the Day

Andrew Eyster Santa Fe 2018

Our hitter of the day, for the third time, is New Market’s Andrew Eyster, from Santa Fe enroute to South Carolina. Andrew went 2-3 last night, with a run, RBI, 2 walks, a double, home run, and stolen base. He’s now hitting 441/531/765 in 68 summer at-bats, with 7 doubles, 5 home runs, 20 RBIs, and an 11/10 BB/K ratio. He is leading the league in hitting.

Pitcher of the Day

There were three excellent starts last night; well, four, really, but three really Jared Wetherbee Charlottesville 2018outstanding ones. The best game score, however, goes to Charlottesville’s Jared Wetherbee, from Elon, who threw 5 dominating, shutout innings against Staunton. He allowed only 1 hit, 1 walk, and struck out 9 to earn a game score of 73. Jared is now 2-1, 1.76, with a crazy 31 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings pitched. This was his first start of the year!
