Results From Friday, July 13

All five games were played last night, and the pitching did quite well. In fact, last night was the first night *that a full slate of games were played* that the highest winning run total was less than 9. Cherry picking statistics, I know… but I thought it was interesting.

Results

  • Staunton 3, Charlottesville 1
  • Purcellville 4, Woodstock 2
  • Winchester 7, Strasburg 2
  • Covington 7, Waynesboro 5
  • New Market 8, Front Royal 3

Hitter of the Day

Our hitter of the day is a relative newcomer to the Valley- it’s Florida Gulf Coast’s Marc Coffers, from New Market. Against the Front Royal Cardinals, Marc went 3-4, with 2 runs, 3 RBIs, a double, and 2 home runs- making this the third day in a row that there was a multi-home run game in the VBL. Marc has “only” 27 at-bats so far this summer, but he’s hitting 370/414/889. Quite the start.
