Two former Valley Leaguers have been named to the 2018 Prospect League’s postseason All-Star teams.
- Michael Jacob (Staunton 2016), from Toledo, was named to the first team All-Star team at starting pitcher. Michael was very good for the Chillicothe Paints. In the regular season, he went 5-1, 3.05, with only 38 hits allowed and a 16/58 BB/K ratio over 53 innings. He also went out and threw 8 shutout innings with 11 K’s in the playoffs. He threw 3 1/3 innings for Staunton in 2016.
- Richard Miller (Staunton 2017), from Towson, was a 2nd team outfielder… but was also named the Player of the Year, and the Co-Pro Prospect of the Year as well. His stats for the Springfield Sliders dwarf every other player’s stat line; interesting that he was “only” on the 2nd team. Richard hit 373/425/811 this summer, with 43 runs, 48 RBIs, 18 doubles, 6 triples, and 17 home runs in 185 at-bats. Richard was named a first-team Summer Collegiate All-American by Perfect Game. He was also very good for Staunton in ’17, hitting 329/418/471, with 37 runs, 35 RBIs, 1 double, 3 triples, and 5 home runs on his way to be named ATVL’s 12th best hitter in the Valley.
