Four Named Summer Collegiate All-Americans

At the end of every summer, Perfect Game releases its Summer Collegiate All-American lists– three teams plus honorable mentions across all the summer leagues. I don’t know how they do it, but they do. And since they do, I’ll point out which of the young men have played in the Valley League, either in 2018 or before.

This year, four such men were honored by PG. Two of them are from the season that just ended, and two are from 2017.

  • Andrew Eyster (New Market 2018), first team OF. In what should be no surprise, the Rebel outfielder and MVP of the Valley League was named to the first team. Much, much more will come on Andrew in this offseason, as you might imagine with a slashline of 421/511/781.
  • Richard Miller (Staunton 2017), first team at DH. Miller crushed the Prospect League, hitting 373/425/811 while being named the league’s Player of the Year and Co-Prospect of the Year. He’s a senior at Towson, and was covered just a couple days ago in a post on this site.
  • Daniel Tolano (Waynesboro 2017), first team at starting pitcher. From Tennessee Wesleyan, Tolano put up an almost unbelievable stat line in the Golden State League, going 10-0, 0.45, with 20 hits, 15 walks, and 85 strikeouts in 59 2/3 innings pitched. He ended his season on July 28th with a 2-hit, complete-game shutout… just putting a cap on an amazing summer. He pitched in relief for the Generals in ’17, going 2-0, 3.78, with 27 K’s in 19 innings pitched.
  • Oraj Anu (New Market 2018), scond team DH. More to come on this young man as well. He slashed 358/424/634 for the Rebels this summer.
