Next up in our series of the best stats in the Valley League since 2004, we have total bases. Stat packages used to keep track of this stat, but I’ve had to “manually” calculate totals the last couple of seasons. (By “manual,” I mean enter numbers into a formula, so it’s not like I’m figuring it out in my head or anything.)
Let’s take a look:
| 1 | Jimmy Yezzo | Winchester | 2012 | 148 |
| 2 | Joseph Odom | Winchester | 2012 | 139 |
| 3 | Jon Love | Front Royal | 2004 | 125 |
| Tyler Kuhn | Luray | 2006 | 125 | |
| 5 | Zach Sterry | Waynesboro | 2016 | 123 |
| 6 | Michael Wielansky | Charlottesville | 2017 | 122 |
| 7 | Steve McQuail | Front Royal | 2009 | 119 |
| Bradley Picha | Winchester | 2012 | 119 | |
| 9 | Jonathan Griffin | Luray | 2010 | 117 |
| 10 | Collin Cowgill | Covington | 2005 | 116 |
| 11 | Leo Rojas | Winchester | 2012 | 115 |
Man, Jimmy Yezzo just crushes these lists, eh? He’s first here, and on the lists for slugging percentage, hits, runs, doubles, home runs, RBIs…. wow. No one had at least 115 bases in 2018; Andrew Eyster ended the season with 109.
The breakdown:
Major leaguers: Collin Cowgill
Former minor leaguers: Jimmy Yezzo, Tyler Kuhn, Steve McQuail, Jonathan Griffin
Current Minor Leaguers: Joseph Odom, Zach Sterry, Michael Wielansky
No pro ball: Jon Love, Bradley Picha, Leo Rojas
By Team:
- Winchester- 4
- Front Royal, Luray- 2
- Waynesboro, Charlottesville, Covington- 1
