While our last top starting pitcher (Luke Scherzer) is nearing the end of his college career, this young man is just getting started. Dylan Gentry, from Coastal Carolina, has just 16 college innings under his belt thus far, but that didn’t stop him from having an excellent ’18 summer season with the Winchester Royals.

His ERA is the 2nd best of all pitchers surveyed for this list, and his batting average against came in 8th.
Dylan’s best start was on July 18th, against future champion New Market, when he threw 8 1/3 innings while allowing only 6 hits, 1 earned run, 3 walks, and striking out 4. He also threw well against Waynesboro on July 11th, going 6 innings while allowing 2 hits, 0 earned runs (3 unearned ones), 5 walks, and striking out 8. He was pitcher of the day once, and was named All-Valley League 2nd team at the end of the year.
